Fablehaven by Brandon Mull

My friend Amy had just finished reading this book and actually handed it to me to read. If it hadn't been for the fact that I knew it was her library book I would have probably taken a year to get around to it. But luckily for me I didn't because it was really a fun read.

It is juvenile fiction so it is easy to get through. I have always been a sucker for the kids off exploring the woods, mystery, magical type stuff. The plot line is no Harry Potter but it doesn't try to be and it is fun. It actually has some interesting gospel principles like obedience/disobedience, consequences, etc. And I really liked the discussion questions at the end of the book, so make sure and read those as well.

But check it out, I think you will like it:) I can't wait to read it to Braden in a couple years (when he is not so scared about things).

Daddy Long Legs

I really enjoyed this book! I must say that I read the last letter in the book because I was too curious to see if he ever wrote her back, spoilers! My favorite quote was,

"It isn't the big troubles in life that require character. Anybody can rise to a crisis and face a crushing tragedy with courage, but to meet the petty hazards of the day with a laugh- I really think that requires spirit".

I also liked,

"...I am perfectly sure every moment of my life that I am happy. And I'm going to keep on being, no matter what unpleasant things turn up. I'm going to regard them...as interesting experience, and be glad to know what they feel like".

A couple of girls in my ward are pregnant and due in May and April. They were talking about childbirth and how scared they are. I was thinking that I was, and now am, very excited about it. It is an experience I can have that will connect me to billions of other women! And not to mention, has given me a miniscule insight to what the Savior has gone through for me.
